A Saturday Evening Out With Buddies From School At A Local Club Results In Excessive And Abusive Drinking And Symptoms Of Alcohol Poisoning

When Lois was in high school, she had gained a reputation as an individual who studied much of the time and who rarely, if ever, "painted the town red" by drinking with her friends. She seemed passionate about "shining" academically so that she would be able to find a career that she not only got pleasure from but one that also gave her some financial stability.

After Lois graduated from high school, she applied to and was accepted into a famous program in history. Her rationale underlying this decision was that this academic discipline would be good preparation for law school and would not be comparable to the majority of law school applicants who decide to take political science as their undergraduate major.

Lois was the type of individual who worked in a rigorous manner to complete what she started and then would take some time off when she could. As it turns out, nonetheless, the vast majority of the things she did between school sessions or during summer breaks did not have much to do with drinking. Clearly, Lois was anything but a partygoer. Now that her final exams for her second year in law school were over and feeling proud of the fact that she had done very well on her finals, however, she wanted to let her hair down and do something besides going to college for a change.

So Lois and a few of her buddies went to a local bar where they had a few wine coolers. As the evening proceeded, Lois and her friends continued to drink. Indeed, she was having such a terrific time that she didn't want the night to come to an end.

After drinking around two hours when Lois began to talk in a confused manner, slur her speech, and then fall unconscious, in spite of this, her friends immediately knew that they needed to call that they needed to call 911 and ask for medical assistance because they suspected that Lois was manifesting alcohol poisoning symptoms.

Lois was conscious of the fact that she had dodged a bullet and almost died from an alcohol overdose and, as a result, was thankful to be alive. At the same time, however, she was somewhat depressed knowing that she had almost died the previous night. Her Mother and Father realized how intensely she studied at school and how little she let herself socialize with her friends. Nonetheless, they also realized that Lois needed to keep away from careless and irresponsible drinking.

As a result, they suggested that down the road, whenever a drinking occasion develops, that she always drink responsibly and in moderation. Lois was of the same opinion and assured her friends and her Mother and Father that she would never ever drink in an abusive and excessive manner. As stated by Lois, "I never had an inkling that I might become one of the alcohol poisoning statistics in the local town newspaper. I now realize that irresponsible and hazardous drinking is not my style. I say publicly that this will never happen again."

Fortunately, Lois was not only "book smart" but she also displayed a lot of. That is, she rapidly grasped the fact that she had made an error and decided that she would never make the same error again. In truth, she now knew that she had involved herself in "binge drinking" and that even one instance of this kind of abusive and irresponsible drinking can end in death.
